A few years ago, former Xscape member Tameka Scott went on Hot 97 and blasted Kandi for breaking up the group Xscape. According to Tameka, Kandi slept with producer Jermaine Dupri and everything pretty much went downhill from there. Popular radio host Angela Yee recently interviewed Kandi who confirmed that the incident did happen but she insists that she did not break up the group. Quote & Video via Team Yee

“But just like anybody, sometimes you can work with people and you be like, hmm I wonder how he is in the bedroom, you know, and you just try it out… we hung out, we was friends, like playing pool, talking trash and then you know you hear somebody say yeah I’m a beast, I’m this, I’m that, you know how you can be around your friends talking about sex or whatever and then you be thinking like, I wonder is it that good, you know? Let’s be realistic, it wasn’t me trying to get anything out of the situation. We already had hit records. We already had hits. It wasn’t like I was trying to do it to get somewhere. It was just out of curiosity.”

When she did that it was really kinda foul to me and that’s really the reason why I would never go back to the group because when somebody just straight lies…and then she tried to add some whole other stuff that was totally false. When I had talked to her after it happened and she called to apologize to me, I said you know what, you call and apologizing to me but you went on radio in NY to say this about me so everything that you put out there, nobody knows you apologizing right now. Apologize publicly if you want me to take this seriously. Don’t say it to me after you done put all this craziness out there about me.”
It seems as though producers and singers get down all the time, but Am I wrong for wanting to ask “How was it?”…
AP: Has Nicki Minaj Resurrected Female Rap?
According to a news report by the AP, Nicki Minaj has revived the female voice in rap. Even though her first album “Pink Friday” doesn’t drop until November, she has managed to saturate all aspects of hip hop and the billboard charts. In the past year alone, She has broken the record for female rap artists that have had the most Billboard Hot 100 entries in a single year (11 total) and has been nominated for both MTV & BET Awards (which she won).
An MTV article piggy backs off of this report with an article titled “Nicki Minaj Is Hot..But Just How Hot?” and some critics main concern is whether Nicki Minaj will make more records catered to her core “hip hop” audience versus crossover hits.
“Nicki’s flow is so creative that you can count on her delivering at least a few instant, easy-to-remember quotables, which is the key to having a successful verse on a pop or R&B song,” says Brendan Frederick, Deputy Editor at Complex Magazine. “[But] now she needs to drop a few hardcore records for the hip-hop base- like ‘I Get Crazy’ or ‘Itty Bitty Piggy’ from last year- and her buzz will definitely reach critical mass.”

Keri Hilson! hmmm I’m not sure where to begin …. When I received the new promo shots for Keri’s new album “No Boys Allowed”, I thought she may be going into a different direction musically…and with her image. However, her new single “Breaking Point” can be pegged the female version of R. Kelly’s “When A Woman’s Fed Up”. As a woman we tend to love those women anthems like Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable (to the left, to the left..)”, and Mary J’s “Not Gon Cry” and this song is along those lines. It could have easily been written for Mary J.

I was just as shocked as everybody else was. I’m happy that she came out and enjoyed the movie. I saw that she had tweeted about it so I hit her back and said ‘Thanks, I definitely appreciate it’. But you know how that is, the moment people see us even close or near each other it starts raising eyebrows but no, I’m totally focused to on the project at hand and my career right now. That’s all I will be focused on. I wish her the best of luck. I was definitely glad she came out and supported the film. We’re growing older, we’re maturing and we’re adults and we’re able to go to each other’s events. We’re not the only ex-couple I’ve seen support each other so it shows growth and it’s all good.

Newlywed Tiny attended a special screening of the movie Takers wearing the same Alice + Olivia Bethany Peplum dress that BET host Rocsi wore to the 53rd annual Emmy Awards Gala. Actress Lauren London was also spotted wearing the dress at an event during BET Awards weekend.
All three ladies chose to accessorize the $331 dress with black heels, though Tiny added a diamond necklace and earrings for added effect. The safari green cocktail features a tonal sequined bodice and a ruffled peplum.
Though I’m not in love with this particular style, I must say I prefer Tiny’s interpretation . Her blond hair contrasts nicely with the green of the dress, and her accessories do more to bring out the frock’s fun sequins.

Spotted Again: Monica and Shannon Brown
I think it’s safe to say that Monica will be sitting courtside at the Lakers Games this season. She was recently spotted at a club with her new boyfriend Shannon Brown, who is also the co-star of her new video “Love All Over Me”
I was at the club and saw Monica and Shannon Brown boo’d up in VIP. I tried to get a pic but it would have been too obvious. Someone at the club told me Shannon has accompanied her on a few of her road trips while she promotes her album. They make a really cute couple.

‘Bottoms Up,’ I feel, is a very creative video. [It's] different from the norm, different than what I feel is expected of me and anything I’ve shot for that matter. [Director] Anthony [Mandler] used a lot of different shooting techniques and I think it heightens whatever it is that the song has already. The drive, the vigor, the club anthem, the energy in the record is definitely heightened with this video. It’s as if I’m walking through some kind of funhouse, filled with women and different seductive things.
Nicki Minaj does an excellent job. She comes in and does exactly what I got her on the record for. She comes in and she kills it. I wanted her to make the record different. I wanted her to take it to a different place and that’s exactly what she did. Even in the video, she made a major contribution … from her hair to her outfits to the way she raps and how theatrical she is in her delivery.”
